Palin Vs. Obama: The Most Extraordinary Presidential (Vice??) Race In Our History!

How extraordinary this presidential election has been and continues to be. Mainly because it, at times, seems to be a contest between someone running for president, Barack Obama, and someone running for vice-president, Sarah Palin.
There are many days when John McCain seems to disappear into the background white noise modern campaigns generate. Palin has become his surrogate and, some fear, may be his replacement.
I heard a commentator just before say that many potential voters may feel it politically incorrect to say they support Palin but then will vote for her come election day. If that is true, the Republicans just may pull this one off despite Obama’s apparent lead in the polls.
Should that happen, it really will be one for the history books–not that this whole thing isn’t already. But the notion that a presidential election might turn on the popularity of a vice-presidential candidate –Sarah Palin–is something our founding fathers would be stunned at. Although, our founding mothers may have had a secret gleam in their eyes.

Obama —-The Socialist? McCain Says So

John McCain is using the “S” word to strike fear into the hearts of voting Americans. He is comparing Barack Obama with European socialist leaders.
Says McCain at a rally, “Barack Obama’s tax plan would convert the (Internal Revenue Service) into a giant welfare agency, redistributing massive amounts of wealth at the direction of politicians in Washington,” Reuters quotes McCain as saying.
“At least in Europe, the socialist leaders who so admire my opponent are upfront about their objectives. They use real numbers and honest language. And we should demand equal candor from Senator Obama,” McCain reportedly said.
Now wait a minute. Obama may be lots of things, but a socialist? I don’t think so!
And, besides, who just signed off on the biggest government intervention in our banking system since the Great Depression? (Socialization is another way to put it.)
Why, Republican and free-market president George W.Bush

Undecided Voters Should Stay Home & Drink Beer! How Could Anyone NOT Know Which Candidate They Like By Now???
Posted on October 16, 2008

Can there really be anyone with a mind out there who actually is still undecided about whom to vote for in the presidential election which is just a few weeks away now?
I mean, after three debates and God knows how many hours of other nonsense, you’d have to be in a deep coma not to know the differences between Barack Obama and John McCain and between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin.
Maybe you’ve decided you don’t want to vote for any of them…write in a name if you can. Vote for Ralph Nader (he still around?????)–whatever. Even that is a decision of some sort.
But I keep hearing “experts” say many people actually do not decide until they step into the voting booth!!
Shame on you if you are one of these people. You shouldn’t be allowed to vote. Stay home. Drink beer. Watch cartoons. Play with——–your toys. But should you really have a say in picking the next leader of the free world if you can’t even make up your mind this late in the game? I don’t think so!

Stocks Dive 733 Points;More Fiscal Pain In Store; What Will Obama & McCain Do??

Here we go again.
Just when you thought it might be safe to get back into the stock market–ZAP–it plunges 733 points, its second largest point loss ever….as in–ever!
This time the notion is, a steep reported drop in retail sales has spooked investors–at least those who still remain.
And, I am sure that is, in part, true.
But the real issue is that, despite the federal bailout of our banks, no one has even come close to bailing out consumers–especially since they are not consuming that much at this point.
The last debate tonight between Barack Obama and John McCain will afford each candidate one last opportunity to tell Americans how they plan to lead us out of this darkening tunnel.
Hope they don’t blow it.
Bet ya they will!

U.S. To Buy Banks;World Markets Climb. But, Is The Fat Lady Singing???
Posted on October 13, 2008

It ain’t over till the fat lady sings. So, is she singing? Not yet.
For sure, today was far better than previous ones in the financial world–markets went through the roof, the U.S. seems to finally have some sort of plan (based on the British model) to pump money into banks and there seems more consensus among European and Asian finance ministers than most experts previously had predicted.
And, yet.
And, yet, while this is all great news for the short term, it doesn’t at all mean the world’s economy is suddenly all healed and capable of jumping up and playing a soccer game (in Europe, anyway).
We still don’t know how many more Americans will foreclose on their mortgages (which is how this entire mess got started) and we still don’t know how many more Americans will be thrown out of work or how many businesses will fail.
Case in point.
If you journey back to the 1930s, there were two, not one Great Depression. The first, which really got underway some three years after the 1929 stock market crash, was largely eased by FDR’s New Deal social programs. But then, like a bad virus, the economy took another nose dive and, this time, it took the WW2 economy to pull the U.S. out of Depression. And, even then, things only returned to normal–in fact, better than normal–after the war was over because there was pent up demand for all sorts of consumer goods not readily available during the war.
So, like I said, it ain’t over till the fat lady sings. Right now, she may be marching toward the stage, but her mouth ain’t open just yet!

Bush Vows To Do All It Takes To Fight Financial Panic—Watch Out Below!!!!

Thank God Bush says “we will do what it takes” to ease the current financial crisis spooking the entire planet. Had he not said that, I really would start worrying.
This is by one account the 21st time the big Bush has spoken out on this topic in 26 days. By now, you’d think he would have something a bit more useful to contribute to the discussion, especially since he met today in Washington with the financial officials representing the G-7, Germany, Britain, France, Italy, Canada and Japan (and us, of course.)
But wouldn’t it be helpful at this stage of the game to not stand on ceremony and maybe bring into the fold Russia and China and maybe even India? They are all having financial “issues” now and all will win or loose along with the rest of us depending on what solutions are applied to this total mess…the worst since the Great Depression of the 1930s.
The roller coaster ride we all were on last week is likely to continue this coming week and you are a rider whether you have purchased a ticket or not.
Hang in, keep your arms beneath the bar, and keep that vomit bag handy.
