Here we go again.

You’d have to be an idiot–or a television news anchorman–not to see this one coming: The Obama administration sending out more signals than the Mars lander that it intends to increase the number of American troops fighting in Afghanistan—this when the administration can’t even clearly explain exactly what the exit strategy will be?

After eight years, the situation in Afghanistan is actually worse now than before: the leadership is corrupt; the just completed elections showing many signs of fraud; and the body count of U.S. troops and others is skyrocketing.

This is what has led to the pronouncement today by U.S. Army General Stanley McChrystal that while the situation there is—serious—the conflict can still be won, Reuters reports him as saying.

How?

He says success “demands a revised implementation strategy, commitment and resolve, and increased unity of effort.”

Translation: more troops.

Sixty three thousand Americans are currently in Afghanistan–fully 50 percent of them sent by Mr. Hope himself, Barack Obama. By the end of the year, the U.S. troop strength will rise to 68,000.

It is hard to find an “expert” who thinks the U.S. can “win” in Afghanistan…mainly because you won’t find an expert who says that.

It is a tribal place and pretending it can be unified is silly; it can’t be; it won’t be.

So, just as we did in Vietnam, the U.S. will now pour more and more human flesh into Afghanistan–meaning more human flesh, or what is left of it, will start pouring out of Afghanistan.

Like I said, Vietnam all over again. Congrats, Barack….talk about change!
