First, the biggest problem with the Obama healthcare reform plan is there doesn’t appear to actually be one.  As has been pointed out by others, what we really have are a bunch of Congressional proposals in the House and Senate, rather than an actual plan the President has come up with.

This was by design…his….he wanted Congress to fill in the details. But it appears as if that isn’t working out so well. It is leading to confusion. People need to be able to go on-line and read a single post that clearly spells out what exactly Obama wants.

In the meantime, an NBC poll, reported by Reuters, shows “Americans remain skeptical of President Obama’s healthcare reform drive,” but, and this is interesting, ” their views have not changed much after weeks of sometimes angry public meeting.”

Good to know that people are not being taken in by the theatrics.

Not so good news is that many people are clearly stupid, or, at least, misinformed—perhaps because the media are doing such a poor job educating the public?

The polls shows that 55 percent  think the health reform proposals would mean coverage for illegal immigrants (it doesn’t) and 45 percent think the proposals would allow the government to make the decision when to pull the plug on granny (it won’t!)–No wonder there is such anger and agony out there.

Rather than focus on these ridiculous things, people would be better served to focus on some of the real things the healthcare proposals might bring about—especially if there is no public option as Obama originally wanted and now appears to be backing away from: We could end up with the government mandating that everyone buy health insurance—but, with no public , government run option, that would mean making people buy expensive, private insurance? Why aren’t people upset about that?

Oh, and one more thing–those people who keep saying they don’t want government running health care….fine…..how about making them all sign forms saying that when they reach Medicare age, they will NOT take it in order to give their business to private insurance companies? Want to bet you will have few takers?
