Good to see former presidents doing something useful…sometimes more than when they were in the White House.

Reports are that former President Bill Clinton is headed to North Korea to try and win release of two American journalists recently convicted there and sentenced to long prison terms for spying.

The two young women were arrested at the border between China and North Korea and, after a quick show trial, were given harsh 12 year sentences.

Since a lot of prestige is on the line here, one has to presume Clinton would not have gone without some assurances behind the scenes that he would, at least, be given a fair hearing and, at most, return to the U.S. with the two captives.

Both journalists work for Current TV, a cable channel started by none other than Clinton’s veep, Al Gore.
