I agree with above. I'm a baby boomer who learned from my parents that american cars were not very well made. I drove honda's and toyota's for years and had no problem with those reliable well made cars but as I have searched for my last two cars -- i mean really researched with an open mind -- I found that GM made the best vehicles in the categories I was looking for. When I say best, I mean best mileage, safety ratings and quality with a better warranty than any of the japanese or the germans. Like I said, nothing against the japanese cars, they are fine, but I now own a Buick Enclave and a Chevy Avalanche and the truth is they are just better cars in almost every way.

I know 5 and 10 years ago GM has made some lousy cars, but the newer ones are great. I current own a 2008 Chevy Impala and I love it! Eve the new Malibus are great.

If GM didn't allow franchises so close together they would not have been competing against each other. This downsizing will work (I hope) eventually. I'm not so sure the over-paid union worker helped the matter too much as well.
