As if the disintegration of the world’s economy were not horrifying enough, we may be on the brink of a true global pandemic as new cases of swine flu pop up around the world. In this country, as of this posting, there are confirmed cases in California, New York, Texas and even Ohio. It appears as if victims had some link to travel to and from Mexico which seems to be the epi-center with more cases than anywhere else and, thus far, the only reported deaths.
This could not come at a worst time…as if there is ever a good time for any flu to come. But, this is a particularly inopportune moment in history for a global flu pandemic: Coupled with the financial meltdown still spreading, a world-wide swine flu crisis can only serve to make it that much more difficult for the planet’s economy to recover. A “perfect storm.” A potential “perfect” nightmare!
