Consumer advocates call it the old bait and switch–a store lures you in advertising a cheap television, for example, but when you get there, they say they happen to be out of stock…but could they interest you in a different model…one that, of course, is “slightly” more expensive.

Isn’t that pretty much what Barack Obama has done–the old bait and switch?

He promised his early and mostly young supporters that he would bring “change” to Washington. He  scorned  Hillary Clinton for being a symbol of the old guard. He was the vanguard.

But look how it has all turned out.

Obama’s presidency is already shaping up as Clinton Three–so far,  most of his appointments and those being nominated for important cabinet positions have resumes that include having worked at some point for the Clinton administration. And, of course, he is hiring as his Secretary of State, the biggest symbol of the Clinton administration, other than Bill himself: Mrs. Clinton.

Of course, Obama is being smart hiring these people. After all, at least they know how to run Washington. Jimmy Carter came to town with a bunch of new folk…and look how badly his one term presidency ended up!

The problem is, anyone with any sense of politics or how Washington works could have told you—and did—early on that should Obama win, he would have to hire pretty much the same crowd Hillary would have turned to had she captured the Oval Office.

Obama –who is clearly a very smart man and formidable politician–obviously knew he was being disingenuous when he spewed out all that nonsense about change–and Yes We Can.

Obama may turn out to be one of America’s truly great presidents. If only he could come clean ,though, about how false his pretenses were while he was running for the office.
