I thought Barack Obama is supposed to be the candidate of change? If so, why is he engaging in the same old fear tactics many in Washington have been using since 9/11?
Obama is saying, according to a Reuters dispatch, that the U.S. needs to be extra vigilant against some sort of terrorist attack during the transitional period from Bush to either Obama or John McCain. In other words, this is a non-partisan terrorist alert!
“A period of transition to a new administration is always one in which we have to be vigilant,” says Obama. “We have to be careful, we have to be mindful that as we pass the baton in this democracy, that others don’t take advantage of it. That is true whether it’s myself or Senator McCain.”
Now, this may well be true…(in fact, it probably is)…but haven’t we all had it up to here with talk of red alerts and orange alerts, and warnings of all sorts from all types?
Since 9/11, many Americans have lived in the shadow of fear. Obama–or any candidate for that matter–ought to be showing us the sunlight instead of pointing to some ,as yet, ill-defined storm cloud.
