Was going to write about the spread of this credit crisis around the globe….till I noticed Tina Brown’s new spiffy website, The Daily Beast.
Brown, of course, edited both Vanity Fair and the New Yorker for many years, bringing both publications into the 21st century.
Back to the credit crisis–talk about speed! In 1929, the market crashed over roughly a three day period igniting what became the Great Depression. But the GD wasn’t full blown for some three years AFTER the 29 debacle on Wall Street.
Compare that to now…just about every part of the civilized (and uncivilized) world seems on the verge of falling off a very high economic cliff to certain disaster.
According to Reuters, U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke says the American economy is being hit by a financial crisis of “historic dimension!”
Wow! Can’t be any more direct than that!!!
