Obama:Is He The First True 24/7 Candidate?
by Charles Feldman on August 28, 2008
It’s done. Barack Obama is now the Democratic Party presidential nominee.
And yet, as the New York Times points out in a front page article, he remains somewhat of a mystery.
Jodi Kantor writes about how calculating friends say Obama has always been…how controlled….even emotionless at times.
Why?
The article suggests that Obama may be the first politician who totally gets what it means to be a politician in an era of 24/7 cable and Internet news. That he must watch every word and every step he takes or else even the slightest blunder will zip around the World Wide Web with lightening speed.
“He is, more than any contemporary political figure, a creature of these times, ” one Congressman is quoted as saying.
