Will Poland Be Under A Russian Nuclear Cloud? General Says–Could Be!

Is this 2008 or 1968?  All this newly revived cold war rhetoric is starting to get a bit out of hand…even if no one really means what they are saying.

A big shot Russian general (I guess all generals are big shots?) mouthed off to a Russian news agency that Poland is leaving itself open to a possible Russian nuclear attack because it has agreed to allow the U.S. to place an anti-missile system on its soil.

The U.S. says the missiles are to protect against an attack from –say—Iran…but the Russians don’t seem to be buying that, at least, publicly.

And, to make matters worse, this same general, Anatoliy Nogovitsyn, went on ,reportedly ,to say that under some circumstances, Russia can even use nuclear weapons!

Now that is going to make the Poles feel all nice and warm and fuzzy.

Are the Russians crazy enough to actual attack Poland with nuclear weapons? Of course not. The Russians are aggressive, but they are not the Iranians who are down right nut jobs in many ways.

The Russians are trying to intimidate Poland into breaking its just made pact with the U.S.  Depending upon how things play out in Georgia, they may very well succeed.
