It Is Done! Hillary Clinton Out? Barack Obama In!

It’s a done deal.
Hillary Clinton officially suspended her presidential campaign today and endorsed Barack Obama.
But with some 18 million people who voted for her, the question on everyone’s mind is: Will Obama select Clinton as his running mate?
There are all sorts of reasons for and against this.
But the simple truth is, U.S. presidential campaigns have become much like movie casting: It is more about star power, that elusive commodity, than about policy. Sad, but true. And, anyone who argues differently hasn’t been paying much attention to this historic campaign.
When looked at from that vantage point, it is obvious that both Clinton and Obama have star power. Teaming them would be like casting two superstars in the same movie–one the male lead; the other, the female lead.
Any Hollywood producer would tell you that an Obama/Clinton ticket would be a box office smash.
I know some will argue that she brings too much baggage to be helpful to Obama. But divas are entitled to their baggage. It’s the performance, after all, that counts!
