World’s Largest Ripoff–Delta To Buy Northwest Airlines; Ticket Prices To Rise

This is a black day for the flying public. Delta Air Lines has made it official. Unless the Justice Department says no, which is not likely, Delta says it will buy Northwest to create the world’s biggest airline and the world’s biggest ripoff for consumers.
Rising fuel costs are behind the $3 billion buyout. By combining the two airlines, the new airline, to fly under the Delta name, will be able to raise tickets fares and cutback flying to routes that are not profitable enough.
And, it gets even worse
Now that Delta has announced it will buy Northwest, it is widely expected that United and Continental will announce their engagement.
The Delta/Northwest merger would reduce American to the second biggest airline in the world…and, we’ve all seen what a great job that airline has been doing after it had to ground thousands of MD-80 flights, stranding more than 300 thousand of its passengers.
Get ready for some real sticker shock on airline prices in the months and years ahead.
