Obama “Rips” Into Small Town Voters Calling Them “Bitter;” Clinton Takes Him To Task

Are small town voters in Pennsylvania “bitter” as Sen. Barack Obama seems to think they are?
Reportedly, Obama told a fundraiser the other day that , “You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them…And, it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
Reuters reports that Hillary Clinton has criticized Obama saying, ” Pennsylvania doesn’t need a president who looks down on them. They need a president who stands up for them, who fights for them, who works hard for your futures, your jobs, your families.”
Too much happening to get bogged down in word games
The fact of the matter is, who cares what Obama said or meant? And, who cares what Clinton thinks about what he said or meant?
What people care about now is how these candidates plan on getting this country out of the current economic mess it finds itself in and how they will, in the end, improve their lives and the lives of their children!
But, of course, what with the April 22nd Pennsylvania primary soon upon us, it is probably unrealistic to expect these candidates for the highest office in the land to engage in more meaningful dialogue with voters?
Unrealistic, perhaps, but necessary.
