In just the past few days, an estimated quarter of a million American Airlines passengers have been stranded after American cancelled all flights using MD-80 aircraft so that faulty wiring on the jets can be fixed to FAA standards—something the airline failed to do a few weeks back when the problem was first identified.

Today, American canceled more than 900 flights and things may not be back to normal till the weekend…or possibly longer.

Horror stories are popping up all over the country of people who have missed important business meetings or social functions or family reunions…the list is as endless as American’s own stupidity.

American caused this mess

Make no mistake about it–this entire problem is American’s own doing; though the FAA shares blame for being way too lax on enforcing its own inspection requirements.

Other airlines today canceled their MD-80 flights–Alaska and Midwest Airlines among them.

Since the early part of the week, American alone has scrubbed almost 2,500 flights!

There is simply no excuse for this except greed: The airline, facing rising fuel costs, has been cutting corners on safety and it is now starting to show.

American should be fined heavily by the government for causing this outrageous problem.
