American is a so-called “legacy” airline–one of the original airlines that brought flight to the American public. Too bad the legacy it is now leaving is one of an inept, uncaring, badly run, rude, airline that employs some of the unhappiest employees in the industry and whose planes are mostly 20 years old or older.
But, as previously posted on this blog, the issue today is that American was forced to cancel more than 1,000 flights involving its MD-80 twin jets because they were not inspected to FAA government standards. The airline, of course, says safety was never an issue—but, you don’t really believe that…do you?
American has left enough people to populate several U.S. towns hustling to find other ways to get to where they want to go…And, to make matters worse, American today announced it will cancel some 900 flights again on Thursday and doesn’t expect things to be back to “normal” till “maybe” Saturday.
Rude, crude employees—Need To Be Fired, Or Dropped Out Of Planes
Time to give serious thought to taking some American Airlines employees and dropping them from some of the planes –though that would be hard to do considering the planes are grounded for inspection.
A friend relates a horror story of trying to get American to pick up the phone to resolve a travel issue, only to be met with seemingly endless waits and then rude employees who either hang up on you or treat you like dirt.
The calls allegedly are recorded by the company…American should listen to each and everyone and fire the employees who treated customers badly.
What YOU Should Do
First and foremost, you must complain to American and complain loudly. Send a return receipt letter by certified mail to American’s corporate headquarters in Texas with a copy to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Search out Internet sites where people might be blogging about the horrid treatment they have gotten from American and join forces….advocate a massive boycott of American Airlines. For most major routes, you do have a choice and you ought to take that option.
If you have no option but to fly American, be as rude to their employees as they are to you. Yell at them. Deride them. Report them. Take their names and badge numbers. Get phone extensions. Find out who their supervisors are. Find out who the supervisor’s supervisor is. Call local television and radio stations. Write and email your local newspaper.Tell friends NOT to fly American. Write your local Congressperson.
American has punished its passengers long enough…time for its passengers to punish American Airlines right back. It is financially weak and getting weaker because of rising fuel costs , among other reasons. Do all you can to put American out of its misery.

1[...] be wonderful places to spend unexpected recreational time. With airlines canceling flights left and right, chances are you’ll be stuck in Minneapolis, Atlanta, or Minneapolis [...]

2I wish more people would boycott American Airlines. This past Thursday I had such a rude flight attendant that I wanted to file a complaint. I was given the phone number 817-963-1234 by the reservation line. The operator at this number was so ignorant and rude that I told her to just put me through to complaints. She then called me a “stupid f***ing b****” and hung up on me. I e-mailed the complaints department about this vile and appalling behavior, and the e-mail response I got from the company was simply an apology stating that there is no excuse for rudeness. That’s it. I got verbally assaulted by a customer service representative of a company to which I was the customer and that is their response. They really don’t care. NEVER FLY AMERICAN AIRLINES!!!!!!!!

3We took American on our honeymoon. We had to go from Chicago-Dallas, Dallas-Puerto Vallarta. They only bring the drink cart around once in each segment, and when they come back with the trash bag, they don’t bother to ask if you want a refill. On the Dallas-Puerto Vallarta segment, I asked for some water after the beverage service, and she did bring it, but she looked at me like I was from another planet.

4If you charge a soldier for his bag when he is going back to a war zone, and you have an expiry date on Frequent Flier miles, I will have all my friends and family, friends, and co-workers ( about 600 people) boycott you!
I will also post this on my website for the unforeseeable future. I thought the United folks were rude and sucked… Try American, they suck worse, and we will never fly them again!!!!!!!

5I am very disappointed with your lately service, In the past 6 month I have had in most of the flights only delays and fight cancellations. I have been using your service for many years for all my business trips, at this point AA is no more reliable for my yearly business trips and I am beginning to book all my future flights with United Airlines.
Your dependability, flight service and all the lately delays because of maintenance issues, have convince me that I can not anymore count with you as an professional carrier for all my business trips. Also all the maintenance issues, the poor plane conditions is proof of your planes to be in dangerous conditions for my safety.
