In Tibet, it appears as if things have gone from bad to much worse.

Reuters is quoting a source in China as saying that the Chinese have “launched mass arrests of Tibetans in Lhasa for interrogation,” which is a diplomatic way of saying torture and abuse.

The action stems from what has been some of the strongest anti- Chinese (Han to be exact) protests and uprising in many decades.

Olympic sized problem for China

Western countries, including the U.S., are loath to call for a boycott of the Beijing Olympics.

But, in light of this stepped up violence on the part of Chinese authorities, that is exactly what they should be doing.

And, are we hearing from Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama and John McCain on this?

Reuters says President Bush placed a call today to Chinese President Hu Jintao to raise his concerns “about the situation in Tibet.”

It’s time for action and not more phone calls!
