US Air And The Wild West Shooting Pilot: Gun Goes Off In Plane

Since 9/11, many airline pilots have armed themselves with guns. This was always a bad idea and still is.
And, what happened Saturday on a US Air flight from Denver to Charlotte proves the point.
One of the plane’s pilot’s guns “accidentally” went off…..inside the aircraft which was in flight.
This particular pilot happened to also be a Federal Flight Deck Officer–which is a fancy way of saying he is permitted to carry the gun by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration.
Fortunately, no one on the plane was injured, though the plane had to be yanked from service.
Guns going off inside pressurized aircraft cabins are not a good thing, even if the gun belongs to the pilot of the plane.
A smashed window at cruising altitude could have turned curiosity into a full blow emergency.
