Barack Obama:Is He Right To Go Left? And, Can An Extreme Leftist Get Elected President?

It’s been whispered about for weeks, but now it is out in the open: Is Barack Obama too far to the political left to win a general election for President?
Bill Clinton understood a truth not understood by many politicians, which is why he managed to win two terms in office.
He had to move to the political center to win enough votes to get elected.
Smart politics.
You’d think that front runner Barack Obama would have this all figured out by now?
Instead, there is growing evidence that Obama is doing the exact opposite of what President Clinton did when he ran for office.
Obama is moving farther to the left!
Is Obama Right To Move Left?
Obviously, Obama thinks by moving leftward he’ll be able to sew up the nomination and rid himself of Hillary Clinton once and for all.
As a Financial Times article points out today, Obama has all but come out against any form of globalization, which is already sending shock waves around the world.
He is lashing out at the North American Free Trade Agreement saying it is costing Americans jobs and that he would consider pulling out of it unilaterally.
Susan Aaronson, a professor at George Washington University, told the Financial Times :”Threatening to repudiate international agreements would have serious foreign policy consequences which would undermine Mr. Obama’s broader foreign policy goals.”
Overseas Jobs Unpatriotic ?
Obama is also an advocate of what is being called “Patriot employers” and he is proposing to lower the taxes on companies that bring back to the U.S. offshore jobs.
Says one political expert to the FT, “What he is effectively saying is that companies that offshore jobs are unpatriotic.”
Jesus…that would be just about all major U.S. companies nowadays!
It’s hard for Hillary Clinton to attack Obama too hard on these issues. Let’s face it, Hillary is not exactly a female William F. Buckley, Jr.
But, John McCain and the GOP will eat Obama up alive for these and other stands.
If Obama gets the nomination, as it appears he will, he needs to do something he apparently has not done enough of–some serious thinking.
