It’s a rip-off. It’s dishonest. It’s Barack Obama’s “Signature” Speech.
Turns out that the presidential candidate of “change” is too lazy apparently to change the words already used by another politician, delivering them as if they are his own, without attribution.
In college, a student doing that would be given a failing grade.
In journalism, a reporter doing that would be fired.
In patent law, a person doing that would be sued.
In Obama-rama-land, a person doing that–gets elected President???????????
Here’s the deal.
Obama has been going about the country challenging those (he means Hillary Clinton) who accuse him of being just about oratory and not about action.
“Don’t tell me words don’t matter. ‘I have a dream’ just words? ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal’ just words? ‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself’ -just words? Just speeches?”
Nice.
Except they are pretty much the same “words” that were used by Gov. Deval Patrick of Massachusetts back in 2006.
You can view side-by side comparisions on YouTube and elsewhere. (see below)
Trust me, same stuff.
Obama’s chief strategist, David Axelrod, was also an advisor to Governor Patrick. Says he: “They often riff off one another,” he told the New York Times.
Riff off???? Doesn’t he mean, Rip-off!!
Look, Obama claims to be about change, about not being like all the other politicians out there.
But, you know what? He is just like them. Maybe worse, because he claims he isn’t.
Ironically, Obama is right when he says (stealing this, it turns out) “Don’t tell me words don’t matter…”
Words DO matter, Senator. But, it would be nice if they happened to be your own!
