Barack Obama is not exactly keen on paying his debt to society; that is, not till he decided to run for the presidency of the United States of America.

obama-ticket.jpgThere are still many unanswered questions about Obama’s 17 year lapse in memory regarding 15 outstanding parking tickets he accumulated –tickets whose fines he never paid–while at Harvard Law in the 1980s.

Between 1988 and 1991, the future would-be chief executive racked up 17 parking tickets in Cambridge.

Obama didn’t pay tickets till newspaper snooped.

Sen. Obama’s memory apparently was jolted shortly before he announced his bid for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination–his memory was apparently aided by the additional fact that the Boston Globe was starting to ask some tough questions about any possible Obama violations of local laws.

As if by magic–or political consultant–almost $400 dollars owed the city for almost two decades was finally paid off.

Now most people manage to get a parking ticket from time to time–but, 17 times in just two years is a lot by any measure.

And, most people, pay off the fine quickly.

But, Obama ,remember, is about “change”–perhaps, then, he didn’t have enough change to pay the tickets?

Did he feel himself above the law?

George W. Bush feels himself above the law, too, and look where that has gotten us.

Old habits die hard,afterall.

Some, I am sure, will argue this is old news, has been reported, and is of little value.

I beg to differ.

Is Obama a man of integrity?

First of all, I doubt he was that stupid that he couldn’t figure out how to park legally over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

So, that would indicate he made a decision to park illegally.

And, I doubt he had such bad memory that he forgot to pay his tickets over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

More likely, he made a decision not to pay them. And, because Obama is smart, he realized this “tiny” scandal had the potential to blow-up in his face.

It still can, over and over and over and over and over and over again.
