Religion is once again playing a major and most unwelcome..not to mention un-American..role in the election of a president of the United States.

The founding fathers…heck, even the founding mothers…are not only spinning in their graves, they must be doing cartwheels.

One of this country’s most “prominent evangelical Christian leaders,” as the Associated Press puts it, James Dobson, says former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee is his man and should be yours, too!

Dobson, a man of alleged Christian charity, loaths Sen. John McCain, the GOP front-runner at this point and likely party nominee.

He hates him because McCain, in his view, is not a true Republican and conservative.

Dobson really wanted Mitt Romney, who, because of his vast wealth ,is a sort of Christ-like figure to Dobson, whose tax-exempt “Focus on the Family” organization rakes it in.

But, Mitt decided to close down his campaign leaving Dobson with no other choice but Mike Huckabee who shares many,if not all, of Dobson’s beliefs.

Is this the 21st Century or the 15th?

On the Democratic side, we have Barack Jesus Obama, a cult figure if ever there was one; and, on the Republican side, we have a fringe candidate who injects his religious beliefs into his presidential campaign being endorsed by the Godfather of evangelicals. Wonder if Dobson made Huckabee an offer he couldn’t refuse?

This nation was founded on the belief of freedom of religion…AND…freedom FROM religion!
