The Associated Press is reporting as of this writing that Sen. John Edwards is pulling out of the race, leaving the Democratic field to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
The problem with this is–he’s reportedly doing it even before just about half the nation gets to vote for a nominee February 5th–so called “Super Tuesday.”
There is something very wrong with an election process for President of the United States whereby candidates drop like flies based on just a handful of states and very few people actually voting!
The whole idea of moving some primaries or caucuses to an earlier time was to give smaller, less populated or important states a say in the nominating process.
But, along the way, something got very perverted.
We are now through the looking glass: These small states (can’t count Florida for the Dems since no delegates are being awarded there) have actually decided pretty much who the entire rest of the country gets to vote for.
This is NOT the way to do it!
