Where Did “Mr.Nice” Obama Go?

Am I missing something here, or wasn’t Barack Obama the self-proclaimed candidate of “change” bent on bringing civility back to politics?

Well, the battle of words between Obama and Hillary Clinton has been anything but civil and one suspects the Clinton camp is pleased that Obama’s raw nerves –and real personality–are starting to show.

The latest battlefield—the airwaves of South Carolina, where each has taken out radio ads blasting the other days before the primary there.

According to a Reuters dispatch, the narrator of the Obama ad says: “Hillary Clinton will say anything to get elected…She’ll say anything and change nothing.”

Clinton, in turn, attacked Obama’s recent comments seemingly praising Ronald Reagan and some Republican ideas.

Says the ad for Hillary: “Aren’t those the ideas that got us into the economic mess we’re in today?”

Well, you get the idea of the back and forth between the two. It isn’t that this is in anyway different from past presidential campaigns…it is not!  But, considering that Sen. Obama claims to be all about bringing back civil discourse to the political landscape, it is just a tad disappointing, isn’t it?
