United/Continental; Delta/Northwest.Biggest Non-Food Serving Airline Planned

BAD NEWS…you like the bold letter touch? Should get your attention. But, it is really bad news for anyone other than birds who fly.
The Wall Street Journal now reports that Delta Airlines has begun merger talks with both United and Northwest airlines.
But, since the government is unlikely to approve of a three way–which would no doubt anger all those evangelicals out there–the prediction seems to be that Delta would probably scoop up Northwest while United would hitch up with Continental .
Should this come to pass, it means higher fares, fewer flights,meaningless frequent flyer miles and……..two GIANT airlines that don’t serve food to coach passengers.
This is all good for the pretzel industry since that is about all you will get on these jumbo airlines.
