Want a great example to show what a lame-duck Prez Bush is now? Even though The Bush called Pakistan’s dictator (how can mainstream media still refer to him as “President?”) Pervez Musharraf and read him the riot act (sorry for that really bad pun in this context), Musharraf went ahead and ordered his police to cordon off the abode where opposition leader Benazir Bhutto is currently residing.

And, just in case his point wasn’t clear in Pakistan’s smog, he had his keystone cops seal off the park where Bhutto had planned to stage a rally against the imposition of martial law (how can the mainstream media still refer to this as “emergency rule?”

Yeah, officials there claim this is all being done for her safety–just like U.S. agencies spying on Americans is suppopsed to be for our safety. Wouldn’t the world be a lot better if people stopped worrying so much about other people’s safety and watched their own ass instead?

Apparently bowing to Bush’s tongue lashing, Musharraf now claims he will go ahead with general elections about a month later than planned…February. And, he says, according to a Reuters dispatch, he will call it quits as army chief so he can be sworn in as a civilian president–though that hinges upon a decision of Pakistan’s Supreme Court which is now packed with Pakies picked by Musharraf.
