Let’s do some accounting here. Since last Thursday, almost 13 THOUSAND people working for various mortgage lenders have lost their jobs, which, you may imagine, will no doubt have an enormous and negative impact on their own mortgages.
The list of financial firms contributing to this bloodbath is a virtual who’s who of major mortgage players:HSBC Holdings,Lehman Brothers Holdings,Accredited Home Lenders Holding Co. The four largest banks in America, CItigroup,Bank of America,JPMorgan Chase and Wacjovia Corp collectively had to borrow 2 BILLION dollars from the Federal Reserve as a sign of support.
Compared to just one year ago, says one major research firm, July foreclosures are up 93 percent!!
The liquidity problems, of course, started with the subprime loan debacle but have now spread way behind the mortgage crisis to many other areas of credit.
Did I say “crisis?” Funny, one doesn’t get the sense that President George ”War on Terrorism” Bush views this global meltdown as a crisis. But, of course, this is the moron who continued reading to school kids for several minutes after being told that two airplanes had struck the World Trade Center and a third had crashed into the Pentagon. This, of course, either demonstrated nerves of steel, or brains of mush. Gee,wonder which one applies here?
Seems that a fitting question to ask is:Is Bush stupid? Some think the answer is yes. But, one suspects the answer is far more complex. Perhaps, he is retarded? I mean,he slurs his speech, can’t seem to find the right words to form complex sentences, and appears to learn next to nothing from previous and many mistakes.
If one considers the real possibility that Baby Bush is the first retard elected President of the United States (well, the first time around he wasn’t exactly elected, but you get the drift)it would go a long way towards explaining his behavior,if not his entire world view.
And,it most certainly would explain why our thus far un-impeached President would not convey a sense of urgency over one of the biggest and strangest financial meltdowns in recent U.S. history. Bet ya he’s reading a fairytale to some kids assembled on the Great Lawn!
