THE CIA BLEW IT, SAYS IT’S OWN WATCHDOG

You know all those movies where the CIA comes across as all knowing, saving the day just in the nick of time?

Well, forget about that. Not true.  Says who? How about the CIA’s very own in house watchdog, Inspector General John Helgerson.

In a report about the CIA’s performance leading up to 9/11 that was completed two years ago but kept from all of us to apparently hide the failures of key agency higherups, the report says the CIA’s very top leaders never developed a real plan to deal with al-Qaida and, even worse, botched opportunities to head off the 9/11 hijackers!

Wow. That’s pretty heavy stuff.

Says the report, “The agency and its officers did not discharge their responsibilites in a satisfactory manner.”

Think that is a bit of understatement?
